I am absolutely in love with my Tecnica Moon Boots!!! I rarely buy winter boots, but decided that this year I was determined to find a boot that is not only fully functional in the cold weather/snow but incredibly chic...and the Moon Boot fits the bill to a tee! Now, I stomp through the snow like a city-YETI!

I've been stopped by countless people who want to know where I got my boots. I'm pretty reluctant to give up the info, although I sing the praises of this boot loudly! A gentlemen even asked if he could accompany me to the moon- HA!

I'm a woman who adores fine footwear and deem shoes an investment. This Moon Boot falls right into place with the rest of footwear collection. Money well spent!

Only CON- they are so comfy and roomy that I bought the size as suggested per the size chart, but a 1/2 size smaller would have been better.

Even though it seems as though Summer has just arrived in NYC, Fall is fast approaching! The 90+ degrees hardly allows your brain to process slipping your feet into anything that doesn't allow your toes to be free, but we must be prepared to look fab as we step into one of the most beautiful seasons.

The Fall Shoe trends for 2009 are certified eye candy! Naturally boots are on the menu, but the shoe artisans are planning to kick ass with the "steppers" they've worked up for the Fall. Nothing off the wall or completely out of the ordinary, but definitely enough to get you a double take.

Suede, a Fall staple, has made its way onto the list of top trends in the shoe arena. Not surprising at all. Although suede requires lots of TLC, it will show you the same love when it makes your ensemble go OWWWWW! Miu Miu has created a subtle pair of chic pumps to achieve that exact reaction. A gorgeous eggplant color added to the flair of the small ruffle detail down the 5in. heel, and the visible stitch should definitely be paired with your sheath dress for day and your coolest jeans for the eve.

Buckles seem to be on every boot, shoe and even clothing this season. Not exactly sure what the fascination is, but I think it works for these See by Chloe "Doc Marten-esque" boots. The buckles, straps and studs feminize the otherwise "butch" boot, not to mention adding some glamour. Worn with some super skinny's may actually prove to be pretty sexy.

My ABSOLUTE favorite trend is the Over-the-Knee boot, or the OTK. Given that The Shoenista is only about 5ft in her stocking feet, I probably won't be indulging in these. But if you leggy beauties love to show off those stems, then I suggest you invest in a pair. Don't be alarmed, no one will mistake you for Chesty LeReaux from the Hustler Club...these are all class, sans the ass!!!

Just a few more things for F-A-B-O to "Throw in the bag"! And this time he won't need to use his Black Amex. But, you and I will have to pay honey, unless of course Reebok would like to send a pair Shoey's way...wink, wink!

So anyshoe, yesterday it was announced that Fabulous would join the 5-city Classic Remix shoe launh/concert series that Reebok and Foot Locker are masterminding. A great promotional deal for the Brooklyn-bred MC who just dropped a new album, Loso's Way. No better way to do it than to perform new songs and classic hits while stepping out in some classic kicks! Wow, I think I just gave you a free bar FAB...I'll be expecting a check!

And these sneaks are Classics indeed! I got my first pair of 54-11's, a.k.a the Workout Hi's, in 9th grade from my very first boyfriend! All black and they looked awesome with my Levi's or so he smile used to tell me! As a member of the Flag Corp in H.S. we rounded out our adorable (and short) uniforms with the crisp, all white Classic Leathers. Aww, to be young and sneaker-clad again...sigh, those were the days! But no fret because Reebok is bringing them back and I'm sorry ladies, this remix is for the men only!

I really should be ashamed of myself for letting my updates fall to the wayside like this. All these lonely shoes and no one to talk about them, to them or to caress them...I really hope they forgive me! But Ms. Kitty Bradshaw, who threw an amazing soiree last night, chock full of tastemakers, beautiful people and personalities has once again inspired me to get my stilettos a-moving!!!! So, I'm sorry fellow Shoey's, not really a shoe coverage kinda day...but, look out for some hot steppers tomorrow!!!!

Ms. Kitty celebrated her fabulous sites one year anniversary in classic Ms. Bradshaw fashion at the Nightingale Lounge in NYC. Not to be pegged as some common blogger, this little kitten is a definite mover, shaker and contact maker and was hand-picked to rep The Gap and their 1969 Born to Fit campaign. Which is why The Shoenista is trying to figure out which heels to don with my new Gap skinny's, courtesy of the overstuffed swag bag (goods from Sprite Green, Carol's Daughter, Uptown Mag, SouthPole and more)! I was even more surprised that those skinny's fit my not-so-skinny physique...I may just have to visit The Gap on my own time!

As for the crowd, well, you had to be there to witness all the great energy working its way throughout the room, but I definitely have a few action shots of what the true get-down was all about! Models in their 1969 jeans having an awesome time, the bevy of beauties draped in their summer show-offs and the gents just smoothing it all out! Oh, and let's not forget the sweetest part of the night...the infamous Cake Man Raven red velvet cupcakes! There was no better place to be last evening. So the self-proclaimed, "Louis Vuitton Don", Mr. Kanye West has begun to materialize his dreams of designing. Mr. West who seems to have a rather intense passion for the world of all things fashionable has been more than adamant about pursuing this goal to match his already extensive musical credentials. While I am a huge fan of the egotistical musical phenomenon, I sometimes question his style choices...not very often mind you...I love when artists are so out of the box that they seem somewhat maniacal!

Released are the photos and the even more controversial confirmed prices for the footwear collection that he has designed for Louis Vuitton. Honestly, I'm not quite sure as to what folks were expecting, after all these still bear the logo and moniker of one the most respected luxury labels in the industry. Coupled with the input of a Grammy-Award winning artist, throw in a LV and what I'm assuming will be a limited edition collection, you can only expect to dole out top dollar! These are not for the recession bargain specialists!

Naturally, The Shoenista being all about great taste...champagne over beer anyday honey, with simply soda pop money...just adores the Jasper style for $1140, with the pink sole and tassled laces. A fine detail to a sporty shoe. Those are the thousand dollar details you pay LV for!!! LOL...a mess!

I’m off to Paris in two weeks and while I’m very excited, my feet are a little hesitant. As a New York City gal I do a lot of walking, but I will be truly putting my feet to the test, making my rounds through the “city of lights”. During my last trip I had the good fortune of being there in the summer, when flip flops and sandals can give your feet a stylish break. No such luck this time! I already have all my stylish outfits selected (in my mind at least, I don’t pack until the “day of”), but my shoes on the other hand are up in the air. I’m looking for the perfect flat. My dream flat would be like my dream man--dark, handsome, comfortable, trusty, classic, stylish and perfect for any occasion. Also, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that our economy is pretty much the equivalent of dog poo, so affordability is key! That would be Shuella! I mean it's literally a plastic boot that protects your real shoes. How fantastic is that????

Now, ladies, how many times have you coordinated your outfit with the perfect shoes to match- leather, suede, silk- and then the forecast calls for rain? Are you not thouroughly pissed that instead of sporting your new outrageous heels or even fantastic flats that you now have to resort to wearing those hideous sneakers until you reach your destination???!!! They don't coordinate with your outfit or your outerwear and now you look like an 80's mom in your pantyhose, socks and sneaks! Need I say more??? Well actually, yes. The Notorious B.I.G, also known as the elusive and iconic MC from Brooklyn, has earned his shine on The Shoenista's blog today. And no, it's not only because the movie chronicling his life, Notorious, is debuting in theatres today (which you should totally check out...pretty sweet), but because Biggie Small's has made his own contribution to shoe trend fashion.

Clark's, the English shoe company, famous for their classic variety of suede and leather comfort sport shoes has played a major part in the hip-hop genre. In the 90's MC's, particularly Biggie Smalls, boasted about their Clark's, but only one style in particular, the Wallabee.

Clarks Wallabee $115

Why the Wallabee? Who knows? Maybe because dress codes for clubs banned sneakers and the Wallabee was a comfortable as a sneaker, but not as stiff as a dress shoe, or maybe because they upgraded your style but still maintained a bit of "street" to them. I fondly remember Wallabee's and all sorts of Clark's gracing the feet of many Yardies (Jamaicans), especially the Rastas. They were like cool breeze! LOL. Maybe Biggie felt the same way...

In any case, they are making a sweet little comeback, but not only on the feet of men, but on the us ladies too! These booties are versatile and comfortable and even warm. Don't be afraid to pair them with your jeans, bootcut or skinny, your leggings or even a cute little skirt and some textured tights. I still have a pair in storage, aka my parents house, that I may have to round up! I'm all excited already! So, I'm not sure about the rest of you fellow Shoenista's, but I for one HATE the cold and most definitely the snow. Here in NYC, global warming must be on hiatus because the cold and snow are sure in high gear! How can you feel sexy and step lively in gross winter boots or dare I say it...UGGS??? YUCK! They have a rubber sole so that you won't have to do the James Brown down the street (which I loooove to watch) and they are waterproof...not only chic but functional. Ok, so totally forget what I said about the James Brown...these are mean! Heel or no heel, this is what an all weather boot should look like! I love that they are quilted to provide warmth (yeah right), and the heel and toe are covered in suede! So, maybe you should opt for the stinky cab ride as opposed to braving the uncleaned sidewalk...I totally would! With some leggings or your fav skinny jeans and a great oversized sweater...I'd make plans for afterwork drinks! ;)

It's drawing closer and closer to that time...Election Day is November 4th, 2008. Only 27 days to go, but only 2 more days to register...that's if you live in NY! Why do I love this pic? It is the perfect portrayal of me and my inamorato! Never has a picture been more accurate. The sameness of the dark, crisp, denim contrasted by the obvious difference in choice of footwear. Although our strong differences may seem conflicting, its quite the opposite- harmonious! Staying true to ourselves allows us to participate in the appreciation of the dissimilarities between us and actually learn to embrace them.

It is my "sole" belief that your footwear says much about you. Whether you like the athletic stylings and comfort of a sneaker or the edgy aesthetic of a dress shoe, they both speak volumes. So, how do I express my personality vs my love sponge? While the majority of the shoes that I post are really on my wish list, there are a select few that I feel speak exceptionally well for me. For the Fall these are the few that my "sole" seems to be vibing with. Unfortunately, my wallet doesn't agree so we'll have to work something out...

Fashion Week: The Real Fashionistas

As most of you know, the ladies walking the catwalk are mere representatives of who the real fashionistas are. The crowd that flocks to see what's what for the upcoming season are already bonafide clothes-horse mavens and are usually there to display their unique sense of fashion and in some cases a lack thereof. New York already being a huge melting pot seemingly begins to boil over with the culmination of all varied takes on what is hot, trendy and "in". I was fortunate enough to capture just a few photos of some interesting footwear and characters, to say the least.

A definite Hit!! This New Orleans visitor donned a mean Gucci dress...

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, the crafty wizards that reign over the shoe empire re-created the Ruby Slipper within their likeness with all the glitz and glamour you can imagine. Truth be told, it may have been my favorite treat of the entire glam-filled week.

Fashion Week: Nuj Novakhett

Yesterday was officially my first day covering a Fashion Show, let alone a show for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2009 collections. Being as though I am covering the shows for Front of the House PR company/blog, as a novice I was quite nervous, not really knowing exactly what to expect and felt as though I needed to bring my "A" game to represent their company. We all know the industry can be quite brutal, but even though I was a ball of nerves my appearance and the confidence I conjured up spoke for itself and was my protection against the odds!

So here was my journey yesterday...come follow me. I traveled to 320 Studios on the West Side of Manhattan to the 14th fl. to view the Spring 2009 collection from Nuj Novakhett I was there a bit early so I took my place by the window and chatted it up with a fellow journalist while I sipped my wine. Both did me a world of good. As the crowd filed into the bare white space a cloud of anticipation grew and we all waited anxiously (at least I did) for the commencement of the show.

Being quite informal with standing room only, we were free to take all the photos we desired and/or needed. No space was off limits. The models were positioned on a raised platform, visible from all sides and rotated appropriately. Pretty cool, huh? This enabled the room of press and buyers to view the collection at a even pace where we were actually able to enjoy the pieces as opposed to the customary catwalk one-off. Feminine, tailored, goddess dresses, skirts and blouses kept the crowds attention.

The shoes did what they do best...pulled together an already chic look. They were provided from Marcello Toshi's Spring 08 collection. The pale blue, coral, ivory and black shoes were detailed carefully. Either winged, fanned-out, cut-out, or adorned, they seemed to captivate the audience just as much as the collection itself. Of course, that's where my eyes were glued! They had an almost updated vintage feel that I thought played well with the collection. As with most shoes, I cannot decide which one I love most.

I apologize for the coral shoe picture. Models do have the most horrific feet!

Even though I'll be covering these shows focusing heavily on the apparel content for Front of the House blog, I will share with you pics from the collections, but here, we will stay focused on shoes. After all that's why we're all here, right? Trust and believe, we will all be amazed at the designers and collections. Christian Lacroix,the French desinger synonymous with outlandish embroidery, pop colors and out-of-the-box designs has teamed up with the original classic British sports brand, Gola

to produce some funky trainers(pictured below) which are due out in January 2009 for both men and women. "The Gola by Christian Lacroix collection takes its cue from the designer's house pattern, Torero Cape, inspired by that of a Spanish bullfighter." (Footwear News)

"In a way, trainers are to the 21st century what shimmering ties and multicolored vests were to the dandies of the 19th century — a distinctive sign, a personal signature. That is the perspective from which I prefer to view fashion, rather than that of uniformity,” Lacroix said in the statement. Lacroix could not be more correct. In a time when the formal dress codes of the corporate office are now being replaced by Casual Friday's everyday, sneakers have streamlined their way into the daily fabric of many wardrobes. Not only are they praised for comfort but now they have a plethora of designers wide-eyed and drooling to partake in the growing trend. No longer are sneakers just for running or playing sports, they have become a fashion must-have and designers left and right are making their mark. Varvatos for Converse, Y-3 for Adidas and now Lacroix for Gola...and the list will continue to grow.

As you have all come to know me, I am really no lover of the rubber soled shoes, but I must admit, they're growing on me! Maybe I'll have to indulge in a pair of these pretty soon.

The Return of the Ugg-ly Boot!

As you all know, I harbor a great disdain for the fugly Ugg boot! These Australian Sheep Skin Boots have somehow taken over the brains of those less fortunate...unfortunate enough to think that these gross examples of boots are a fashion statement. More of a "DON'T EVER, EVER, EVER", than an actual "DO".

Regretfully, I must inform you that yet again, they have returned and Ugg is trying their dandiest to actually market this disastrous footwear as something contemporary! Sigh...the absolute gall! Although they are not as horrid as the usual, they're still a bit butch!

That is all the trauma my feet could stand for today. Tomorrow we'll have to make up for today's tragic post. Let this be a lesson to you ladies...

Art Imitates my Shoe Love

If you're reading this blog, it's quite likely that you are just as much a lover of shoes as I am or you just like to hear me ramble on aimlessly about my feet and how I like to adorn them! Either way, I think you'll find the following just as heart warming as I have.

Through my diligent blog surfing, I encountered some artiste that harbor similar feelings to ours, except they chose to depict their love in a much more artistic manner...painting.

The Diva Muse, was the first one I spotted. I loved her bio and was a bit partial to her because she is a mom and depicted her love of art and creating it as her outlet for maintaining her sanity as well as showcasing her talents. A feeling that is newly adopted in my life as well, it hit home.

"The Falling Purse" piece which every woman can relate to features countless lady-tries tumbling out of an already full purse. We ladies carry our whole life in there...all of our just-in-cases, our can't-leave-home-without-it, and even the toy car(s) for the little one.

The second artist is, Janet Hill. Her pictures are based on all things feminine. They not only include shoes, but women and all the things stereotypically associated with them. It's been a long two weeks ladies!!! I must apologize to my faithful readers for the lack of new "shoe news". The Shoenista who is a chronic procrastinator has been taking care of a few things as well as battling a few things as well. But no worries bitches...I'm back and just in time for FALL.

As you all know, the warmth and lazy days of summer are all but coming to an end. Pretty soon it will be time to pack away those FAB sandals and bust out the pumps, boots, booties and literally gear up for the long, cold, winter months. No fear, The Shoenista is here to help guide you through them fashionably. In addition to shoes, I'll begin to share with you some tantilizing accessories as well. Event Recap: M Shop Fashion Show, Fall Collection

Hi! The Shoenista has been M.I.A for a few days, but I'm back. I actually went to see my boy Kanye West at MSG on Wednesday night! The show was AWESOME!!!!! He totally ripped it...N.E.R.D. and Lupe Fiasco also tore it up.

Moving right along to Wednesday...the M Shop Fashion Show...held at The Park Restaurant's Penthouse was an amazing event! Caprinhias flowing, my mouth moving a million miles an hour, mingling, giggling with my girls and enjoying the cool NYC summer breeze...Glorious!

So, the show finally begins, but unfortunately The Shoenista chooses the wrong end of the runway to perch and my trusty camera proves to be, not so trusty! Sans the lack of fabulous pictures. I was able to score a few shots of the Brazilian inspired designs from M Shops Fall 08 Collection! I believe the crowd was quite impressed. The colors POPPED...

Event Recap: National Underwear Day Fashion Show

So, I was already on Cloud 9 yesterday successfully launching my vintage clothing site, Immortally Chic. Check it out! ***Thanks to Kitty Hawk for the awesome write up!*** To top that off, my bottom chick and career advisor, Sideya and I were off to conquer the night!

A great time was had last night at the FreshPair.com's 6th Annual National Underwear Day Fashion Show. Two Words...EYE CANDY! The Fashion Show featured brands like, Deisel, Sean John, Le Mystere and a few others. Unfortunately, since I'm all of 2ft tall, I was unable to view the hot bodies on the runway! Not to worry, there were scores of the most beautiful male models running around in undies! They looked like they were having the best time of their lives. I would too if there were a sea of well dressed "Ken's" oogling me! I swear in my next life I'm coming back as the fiercest of fierce gay man! I suspect that's what I was in my former life...how I'm doing...but this time I was forced into being a broke raging bitch! Damn that thing called Karma!!!!!!!!!!

Nevertheless, I had a chance to mingle, swig on some cocktails and just take in the scenery! I ran into some famous and gorgeous faces, Russell Simmons (famous), Nole Marin, ANTM's Latin queen Jaslene, Project Runway's Suede (hope he won't read my recap post!), and the most adorable design duo, Shawn & Shane (gorgeous)!

What was Old is New Again...

What comes around, goes around...correct? That is especially true when associated with fashion. Sure there about 100+ ways to design, re-design, style and re-style a shirt, pant, skirt and shoes but in the end it all points to the original version...the vintage original!

It is our duty as "Fashionistas" and "Shoenistas" to recognize the stylistic ingenuity of the many talented designers that have blessed us with trends that may be re-vamped, but live on forever! I guess certain designers had the exact same thoughts for this upcoming Fall season. Channeling vintage divas from yester-year has inspired them to re-create the most alluring shoes. Event Recap: Chloe & Reese Trunk Show

Yesterday evening I had the absolute pleasure of attending a Trunk Show featuring the dainty dress designs of Chloe & Reese. A chic, sophisticated line of clothing fashioned for the updated glamour girl. Sweet little cocktail numbers along with svelte silhouettes in delectable hues and fabrications is what the collection is comprised of. The Fall Collection will be available at Neiman Marcus, the infamous, Harrods of London, and The New York Look boutiques. I seriously suggest you take a long look at what they have to offer.

***To my Resident Shoenista readers, who may be wondering where this is going please note that while this may not directly relate to our shared obsession, SHOES, anything fashion related will be discussed here...especially the delicious happenings. I thank you!***

As we ladies sipped wine and engaged in girly plesantries, we were surrounded by racks of dresses just screaming to be oogled at, tried on and purchased! What all Ladies Nights Out should consist of! Malikah Kelly, the gracious hostess of the evening and Senior Writer & Editor of Style Weekly, of which I've had a guest spot, looked impeccable modeling the black strapless cocktail dress. Accessorizing such a simple, but classic dress with over-sized cascading neck-candy and more of what we love, foot-candy, these tidbits speak volumes by creating versatility and a brilliant flair.

Ladies flittered back and forth gaily between the two makeshift dressing rooms desperately attempting not to purchase every single piece they tried on. A difficult fete, I must admit. I, The Shoenista, am the absolute worst person to shop with. If it looks great on you, I will swindle you into purchasing it and maybe another. I will cite every reason you need that coveted garment! Which is why my girlfriend, Ayana, a child psych therapist and a size 2 all the years I have known her...BITCH...left with a sweet little cocktail diddy! Here she poses in a few other options!

Project Runway Recap- Season 5, Week 3

So, I missed last week's Recap, but I'm back in effect today! My feelings towards this season are anything but psyched. Being one of my all time favorite shows, because it incorporates all things loved by The Shoenista (fashion, make-up, creativity and scores of gay men)I feel that the contestants this season just aren't measuring up to the talents of the past 4. I
believe Bravo TV is showing their ass...can I blame them, not really. Nonetheless, I tune in each week to see who will make a spectacle of themselves and prove how null and void of talent they really are. Wow, that was harsh...shrugs...moving right along!

Last nights challenge, "Bright Lights-Big City", was to create a design for a Night Out on the Town in NYC. The designers, and I use that term loosely this season, were to interpret scenes from around the city into their designs. They were able to take pictures of manic Manhattan at night and utilize them as inspiration. Apologetically, I do not have footage of their inspirations...maybe you can take a few guesses. View the following to see how it went. As for the shoes...Bluefly does not have all shoes featured on their website, so again, I improvised!

So, you know me...cruising the internet for some late Summer finds. Just so YOU know, now is the best time to stock up on shoes for next Spring/Summer season. Why you ask? Well, these are the some of the shoe principles I live by and will share with my fellow "shoe-lings"...

1. Everything is on SALE because stores need to rid themselves of Summer stock. Fall goods are already being sold. It's a great possibility those sandals you've been eyeing all season are at least 50-70% off. Even the ones you thought you'd never be able to afford. View this as an opportunity, an investment even. Just keep your fingers crossed that they still have your size!

Rubber never looked so good!

Rubber shoes. My first thought of rubber shoes makes my toes cringe. All I can think about are sweaty feet and pretty ugly shoes! But strangely enough, that is not the case, as far as the ugly is concerned...sweaty feet, quite possibly.

Melissa, a Brazilian eco-friendly label who has been producing shoes for the last 25 years, constructs all of their shoes, which they affectionately refer to as "Fashion Accessories", out of plastic. The Melissa shoe brand is heavy on
the artistic asthetic as well as being environmentally concious which makes the branding and designs that much more appealing. Another aspect of their branding which is extraordinarily cool are the collaborations with uber talented artists that bring the most amazing creations to life. Past and current collaborations include, Alexandre Herchcovitch, The Campana Brothers, and Ms. Vivienne Westwood who will be a part of the Winter 08 collection as pictured below.

The newest addition to the collabo roster is none other than reknowed, Iraqi-born female architect, Zaha Hadid. In 2004, she was the first female to be awarded the
Pritzker Architecture Prize, which is the equivalent to the Nobel Prize in the architecture community. Most recently, she has been noted for the Mobile Art structure she created for Chanel to display their merchandise. Now, to add to her long list of accomplishments, shoe designer will be included.

These space-y creations will be available exclusively at London's Dover Street Market this September in 8 different colors. These are definitely a collector's item and sure to go fast! If you're interested I suggest you make some phone calls ASAP!!!

I am going to lock down a few other pairs on the Melissa site. I think I've found another brand to add to my FAV list. I beg you to check out the site...The Shoenista approves!

The Other Knowles....Solange

We have all come to know and love (for the most part), Mrs. Beyonce Knowles-Carter. I don't know if that is her married name, but let's just roll with it. We all know Mrs. Tina Knowles...although we'd like to forget her designs...and of course Daddy Knowles, aka Pimp Daddy, literally. But what about Solange? I, for one dig Solange...dare I say I dig her more than Beyonce??? Perhaps.

For the most part I believe that Beyonce's image is completely fabricated. She is an awesome entertainer, but lacks any pizzazz and personality. No, I don't know the chick, but her interviews are just as soothing as a lullaby...guaranteed sleepy time! But Ms. Solange is all sass and spunk and I think she is finally coming into her own. Her style included. She definitely plays up her assests- always donning the cutest strapless short dresses and long and lean pants to show off those shoulders and stems. But the one thing I dig the most is always her off color choice of footwear. It screams personality!

Event Recap: Shane & Shawn Present "Ladies Night"

Yesterday evening I had the pleasure of attending "Ladies Night" at the Shane & Shawn's shoe emporium on Mulberry St. in NYC, which just happened to be hosted by Jillian Lewis from Season 4 of Project Runway. Jillian possesses a polished, sophisticated style which qualified her as one of my favs along with Miss Honey himself, Christian Siriano, and Rami Kashou.

The event was chock-full of shoe obsessed women looking to score their next fix and a glass of Belvedere to boot!

This label, designed by twin brothers Shane and Shawn, is relatively new to me so I figured I'd do a bit of inquiring within the crowd to get a feel for what the fans, which transcend quite a few age and ethnic backgrounds, had to say. The most common validation related to price. A greater portion of the women I spoke with felt as though they were presented with a product that they liked as well as a price they felt was more than reasonable. FYI, the Ladies shoes range from $130-$230, which include athletic footwear, flats and a variety of pumps (they also produce a Men's Line as well).

Now, I must truthfully admit, I was not completely blown away by the selection of footwear, but what I did appreciate was the attention to detail and comfort. Certain shoes are fashioned with the signature "S&S" heel logos as well as padded insoles...a girls feet could not ask for more!

As I normally say, "someone will love them", and obviously with the fan base demonstrated last evening, it is proven that a few someone's do! By the way, Queen of all Media, Wendy Williams, will be featuring this designing duo on her television talk show Friday, July 25th. I'm sure it is a definite MUST SEE TV event!

The Devil Wears...

A black t-shirt, jeans and sneakers and sports a buzz cut.

While attempting to score tickets to the extraordinarily hyped-up new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, me and the Mister spot The Darkness himself, Mr. David Blaine, on line in front of us. Having watched all of his stunts via television and other "magic" he's performed I have always been mesmerized and afraid of him all at the same time, yet I could not help myself from wanting to see him attempt something live.

As we exit the line, since ALL of The Dark Knight shows had been sold out, we sort of bum rush him. Eerily, he simply turns around, removes his ear-piece and asks us to present a quarter. He then instructs the Mister to write his name and places it in my dominant hand. He continues ranting about how our minds can allow us to do anything if we really believe it...he presses some nerve on my forearm 3 times, I open my hand and the quarter is bent. We stand there with our mouths hanging open and he breezes away. Since I'm due for a lifetime of doom, I just pray God that he did not take my soul with him yet!!!! LOL!

Immediately, we searched for another quarter and stupidly attempt the same trick- NO HAPS!!! The Mister is amazed, me- a bit more afraid of something I don't understand and cannot explain. Damn you David Blaine!!!! Oh, and did I mention he is sort of HOT. Of course I'd think that LUCIFER was HOT!!! Pray for me...

For the remainder of the evening we tell every single person we come into contact with. Naturally, they are looking at us like a couple of stoners...respect the smoke, it won't really hurt you...and I get to thinking about how I can incorporate it into my blog. Well, being as though the general theme is quite demonic, I want to leave you with these devilish designs from Rodarte, produced by Christian Louboutin. I give you the best advice one could share when spotting a woman wearing any of these- "Don't piss this bitch off!"

Project Runway Recap- Season 5, Week 1 Review

So, last night was the Premiere of the 5th season of Project Runway. This is one of my FAVORITE shows because it incorporates all the things that The Shoenista loves and lives for, creativity, fashion, and gay men! Honestly, I watch it for the gay men...I'm a total hag!

Moving right along...so, they revisited a challenge from the first season which I felt lacked originality, but in their defense it is an awesome challenge. I mean to fashion a wearable outfit out of unconventional fabric is no easy fete. I probably would have bought a roll of Bounty and wrapped it up mummy style!!! Yes, I know...stick to shoes. F-U!

Bluefly provides the accessories so I attempted to locate all the shoes featured- also no easy task. I did my best and where I could not find them I improvised. Appreciate it! So, check out the Good, the Bad and the goddamn Ugly! Korto's dress is my personal fave...that dress is everything!

The prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue have announced the 10 Finalists for 2008! Honestly, I don't much care to mention any of them except for the one that counts...Alejandro Ingelmo.

Being a fourth generation shoe designer, Alejandro Ingelmo was born with the shoe-gene. He was truly destined to design shoes to wow and amaze us. Launching his first collection in the Fall of 2006, it did not take long for those who can appreciate a quality foot-gem to recognize his talent. His utilization of eye-popping colors and luxurious leathers and suedes turns even the most basic shoe into a Ingelmo classic. I for one, love the teeter-tottering stilettos...naturally!

My fellow Shoe-Whores, it is my deepest apology that I am not able to bring smiles to your faces, tingles to your toes or itchy fingers on your wallets. The Shoenista, who is a serious procrastinator, has some business to take care of! Please do not be worried...I promise you shoes galore this week, full of Italian leather, grosgrain ribbon, beautiful satins and whatever else these creatively insane designers have decided to implement into their collections.

I do leave you with the following story..."Woman Stabbed with the Stilleto Heel of her Shoe".

Here are a few things that came to mind while reading this:
1. What in blazes was she doing wearing BOOTS on June 29th? Wasn't it already summer? She was sort of asking for trouble, no? Maybe the assailant read my "Yuck Boots" posting and was enraged upon spotting her!
2. Stilettos are really weapons in disguise. Why didn't she retaliate and why did she wait several days to seek medical attention?
3. The attacker "slapped her face" and then proceeded to remove her boot after she refused to perform a sex act. You know, boots and then the slap to the face, and sex in the same story is sort of sounding like an altercation between a pimp and his worker bee, no? Maybe the infection in her hand was affecting her occupational duties? Am I wrong for such speculation??? Think about it...who wears stiletto boots in the summer, and gets slapped for not performing sex acts??? LOL! I cannot...I'm seriously laughing myself to tears...ain't no good gonna come to me! I need to stop watching Jerry Springer...

And no, I'm not talking about myself although being 21 again wouldn't be so harsh! I am actually referring to the ever popular, trend knock-off specialists of the retailer, Forever 21. They are seriously like the Bergdorf Goodman of the junior-esque knock-off set! Charlotte Russe, Rainbow and DEB eat your heart out!

Now, please don't get me wrong, I appreciate what they do. This retailer is dedicated to a much younger demographic who craves to be as chic as their slightly older counterparts and love to shop, but with less disposable income. Therefore, Forever 21 caters to their needs by providing the hottest trends of the season at seriously rock-bottom prices. Although you will be sacrificing quality while saving a shit-load of cash, is it really that serious when these trends just breeze through for the season? I believe it is safe to say, probably not. And I believe it's also safe to say that their consumer base is way over 21...works for me!

In saying that, I give you this, the CZ-3 Patent Peeptoe, probably the best Chloe replica ever for a mere $27.80!

Honestly, I'm not so upset with Forever 21. From the picture, the carbon copy isn't too shabby. What do you think?

I Reminisce...Via Spiga

I remember a time when me and my cronnies would cruise the mall in Utica(YUCK), NY in search of clothes and shoes to wear that didn't resemble what the locals were sporting. FUBU hoodies and Girbaud jeans just weren't our cup of tea. We actually stumbled upon a chic little shoe boutique that was so out of place in that hick town mall. Needless to say, I was overjoyed! Our weekly Thursday shopping excursions were actually exciting now. All of us being poor as church mice, would sacrifice our work study paychecks (or for some, their tuition...I swear it wasn't me), to pay down, yes honey they had Lay-a-way, on our prized VIA SPIGA shoes.

I have to honestly say that although I was familiar with the brand, I had never purchased a pair prior. I really never purchased much of anything on my own until I left for college. So, this was sort of like a Rites of Passage for me. Now, I would be able to feed my habit all on my own.

During my short stay in Utica(YUCK), NY I racked up on a few pair of Via Spiga's which I still own...a patent leather croc embossed pair were my favorite. I apologize for not providing a visual, but they are currently in storage. After leaving college, I still had a great appreciation for the label and my love affair with shoes only escalated. While at work one day, I happened to stumbled upon a pair of Via Spiga, Urbina multi-colored polka-dot pumps. I instantly fell in lust with them...yes, lust, I am a shoe whore. Even though I really dug these shoes, there was just something undone that didn't settle so well with me. Being sort of extravagant sometimes, I decided to spruce them up.

Voila, they were now perfect for me! A bit gaudy, but they suit me well. I even made a corsage to match. Most who saw them, loved them.

My love affair lives on. I still purchase shoes and I've even gotten a wicked handbag from Via Spiga. I'd advise you take a look at these classic, yet updated styles below. They might just find a home in your closet.

The Grand Prize Winner

So, why didn't anyone inform me of this? Granted, I should have known, but sometimes being consumed with things other than shoes tends to disrupt my concentration! I was visibly upset the entire day! The concept behind this theme was taken from the Annual Glamour Stiletto Marathon held in Amsterdam where the prize is about $20K. Spinoffs of this event are also held in Berlin, Stockholm and Moscow. See, the love for stilettos is universal.

Sk8r Girl...

So, this past weekend we, myself, my luvbug, and my little "short-pants", checked out the Afro-Punk happenings at BAM in Brooklyn, NY. The Afro-Punk organization has set up a 2 week event to celebrate blacks that have embraced the "punk" culture. There were skaters, bike riders and onlookers galore as well as some really dope performaces from guest DJ Afrika Bambaataa and Janelle Monae- she effing rocks!!!!!!!!!!!! Gazing in amazement at the multitudes of black boys and men glide back and forth, I was a bit jealous and wished that I was able to do some gnarly tricks...I can barely stand on the damn board, much less attempt to possibly maim myself attempting tricks!

As with most extreme sports, or sports in general, skating is definitely male dominated, but the Ladies came out to show and prove! They showed determination and skill and were relentless about being competent contenders. But along with that sass, was a wardrobe none to shabby. Decked out with unique hairstyles all their own, there tees "outspoken", jeans "skinny", and footwear fierce! As you probably all know by now, I'd wear heels to the basketball court, but I still appreciate the good stylings of a dope sneaker.

Tis' the season for getting married! I actually love going to weddings...why you ask? Where else can you go dressed to the nines and are able to eat, drink and dance until you throw up- for FREE??? Love it, love it, love it. What I do hate? Those god-awful dresses and stripper-esque lucite shoes. Yuck! Seriously, if my man of SEVEN YEARS actually grows balls big enough to ask me, then I'll be sporting a really chic suit and these Christian Louboutin Anemone darlings...
Hell, I'd wear these alone!

But what should the more traditional bride slip into? My take on it is that, just because you cannot see them, doesn't mean they should not look good. Allow them to be either precious keepsakes or shoes that you are able to wear again without the bride-shoe stigma attached to them.

For instance, if you are more into memorabilia check out Sergio Rossi's collection of bridal shoes. He not only offers classic styles, but also the option of time stamping you and hubby's name and the date of your nuptuals inside your precious shoe!

That would satisfy your "something new", but what if you were looking for something blue? The ever mythical Christian Louboutin blue-soled wedding shoe, was once available, but because of some legal battles the line was discontinued. I'll show you them just to tease you anyhow...

But, if you still crave that "something blue" on your feet, then there are definitely a few options. 1. You can dye a pair of satin, white shoes or 2. You can just purchase a pair! Brian Atwood has created two in particular that I am a fan of. They are two different shades of blue, but do the job superbly!

Due to some technical difficulties and "other" issues, I was unable to bless you ladies yesterday. And so, I scrapped my original entree and went straight for the dessert. These shoes are so SWEEEET, you'll need to put your dentist on speed dial!

Never has one collection included so many shoes to choose from. Normally, there is that ONE that is GOLDEN and a total "it" shoe for the season, but Sergio Rossi...god bless designer, Edmundo Castillo, and my bank account...has managed to conjure up the meanest shoe collection this season! Well, that's my opinion, but I'm sure once you take a gander, you'll surely agree.

Don't these make you feel all exotic and shit??? I want to throw on a sexy bathing suit with my watermelons spilling out and just chill poolside while sipping something sweet! Dammit! The beading is exquisite and not the least bit gaudy. The careful construction of the beads paired with leather makes for a more sophisticated feel.

WWWOOOOWWW...I love these!!! I mean like really love. Like, I want to hold you in my arms and caress you kind of love. No more words! Well, maybe just a few. I stare at these a couple times a day trying to figure out how they can be mine. I think I'm LoveStoned!

These assymetrical patent leather lovelies make quite a statement. The angle, which gives the appearance of a wedge brings excitement, to what might have been just a regular platform shoe. It is definitely the small details that make a huge impact.

Within the industry there are Designers and then there are true Artiste. Not to take anything away from those who produce beautiful pieces, but there are the select few who are not afraid to deviate from the norm and create true works of art not only fit for your feet to enjoy, but oh so pleasing to the eyes!

This couture house of Shoes and Handbags is mastermined by three brothers, the legacy of their Father who envisioned and birthed the business. This beauty below is a magnificent display of pure artistic genius. This shoe is so exclusive, the price is only available upon request!

Have you managed to close your jaw yet? Yup, me neither! I don’t believe there are many words to sum up the wonderful eccentricities of this Junko Shimada piece. I shan't dare call them shoes(in my god awful faux-Brit accent). There needs to be another word added to Webster’s to define them. All I can think of is my desire of donning an intricate silk kimono with these babies or watching countless re-runs of Bewitched! And priced at $5,400, they will remain a desire. A definite museum piece.

British Designer, Nicholas Kirkwood, has demolished the poker face. He has set the wager so high, that he may have outdone himself! The turquoise satin and snakeskin slingbacks look like they are ready to take flight, and I’d love to be the pilot. So majestic and regal, the appropriate and obvious inspiration is the Butterfly. These can be yours for only $695. If I must say so myself, quite reasonable!

And last but definitely not least, we will be left with stars in our eyes. Monsieur Laurent left us with so many things to be grateful for and his footwear is just one of them. Paying homage to the great Andre Perugia, these shoes are nothing less than star-studded. Honestly, I think he made these with moi in mind. He knew someday I’d be a star and would need the appropriate footwear to strut in. We thank you…I thank you! Oh, and might I add, they are available for $1,090!

These retro-bow numbers are my personal fave! They make we want to pull on some pantyhose with the seam up the back, slip into those heels and take naughty pics!!! Too much info, right? So what...you had the exact same idea...whore! Lol.

Often enough, as people, we tend to remiss those who influence our lives and those who have influenced the things we have come to love. Obviously, I am referring to the Shoe trendsetters of yester-year. Like apparel, most trends that we see and adore today are updated replicas of what some adventurous designer made popular at the height of their careers ions ago.

One particular Designer that I feel compelled to "Spotlight" is the French Shoe Articifer, Andre Perugia. Born of Italian heritage in Nice, France he began his craft while training in his father's workshop at the tender age of 16. Rapidly honing in on his craft, he became much more knowledgable than his teacher, his father, and subsequently took over the family business.

The high society Parisian's quickly became enamored with Perugia's ingenuity and many solicited him to create their own extraordinary shoes. Shortly thereafter, Perugia began creating historic footwear for the rich and famous.

We can thank Monsieur Perugia for many shoe trends, the Platform, the Corkscrew bottom shoe and countless Stilettos. His influence is quite apparent in what we go ga-ga over today. I guess the saying, "what goes around comes around" is always quite evident in fashion.

Along with everyone going "Green", lots of people are also steering clear of all animal products. Not I, of course...have you ever had the skirt steak at Habana? Yeah!!!

But getting back to the point at hand, vegans are hard core animal supporters and it does not only come down to what they put into their bodies, but what they put on their bodies as well.

Now we've all seen the shoes those PETA people wear...they definitely go under the Yuck Shoes file! But because vegans are now younger, hipper and sassier they are craving style within their lifestyle as well.

So, the BET Awards were on last night and it was chock-full of lackluster over-hyped performances. Not to mention the horrible commentary and less than amusing jokes from D.L. Hugley. If it weren't for artists like Ne-Yo who gave a grand performance, I would have never stay tuned.

With that being said, I really only watched to take a looksy at all the footwear! Check the ladies out...

Alicia Keys looked great, although I'm not such a big fan of this pairing...these shoes are too funky for a formal dress! Toes should have been out!

Keisha Cole finally looked pulled together...loved her performance boots (not pictured), but she cleaned up nice on the red carpet!

Jennifer Hudson...nice do'...nice dress(how much Crisco did they use)...nice shoes! Simple and chic.

Keri Hilson...What happened? Did Donna Summer stop by to dress her??? Yuck!

Kid Sister...pretty girl and I believe she gets a "Job Well Done". Her hair could have been a bit more dramatic, but her shoes- Hot, Hot, Hot!

Lauren London very cute, but the dress could have used an accessory. A belt would have brought the whole look up a notch, but her zapatos- on point!

Lil' Kim, her mane and make-up is reminiscent of Lion-O, from the ThunderCats, but other than that she looks great! Ha!

Solange...not going to comment on the hair which looks like what rats have been playing in, but I do appreciate her love for shoes that are on the wilder side of life!

Trina should have worn more than her nightgown and not carried her overnight bag, but I guess her fab legs and shoes made up for that!

Puma has decided to Go Green...well not really, but they will be releasing this Endangered Species inspired Limited Edition series. The Macaroni Penguin, Polar Bear and Seal will forever be immortalized as some downright dope kicks! I wonder when someone will make a Shoenista inspired shoe...it's long overdue, I'll tell you that much!!!!!

The series consists of 6 colorful sneakers, fashioned after the endangered animals. I have 3 as a little teaser...you'll just have to hold out for the other 3.

Not quite sure if I've stated this before, but I'm not really a sneaker aficionado. I do on occasion throw on my Chuck Taylor's, but for the most part my little feet remain in a shoe equipped with a heel. Being that as it may, I see no reason to leave my readers uninformed. This sandaled-boot is El Jefe of all "Gladiator" sandals this season. I would go to war in those. I would blind the other warriors with my fierceness. Those other bitches would be so jealous of my wicked boots that they would just lay their arms down and beg me to try them on. You know, the rich bitches who lunch for a living, while squandering their husbands money on philanthropic causes to boost their egos. The average income of the females who participated in the poll is $348,000. Salary??? When did they start classifying eating, purging, getting botox, and then going shopping a job?

With a flood of killer brands within the luxury market, Louboutin has managed to distinguish himself and remains to be highly sought after. The fact that its price tag isn't shy on the zeros proves to be beneficial to the consumer who desires to preserve their prestige. You see how much they spend on Botox to preserve those wrinkled mugs, why not drop some serious change on some Lou's!!!

Someone has created a boat to fit your feet!!! Just because you push your hooves into the same size shoe as Frankenstein doesn't mean that your footwear should resemble his, does it? Well, if you like the whole masculine Timberland movement, then buy some Dickies, a Carhartt and butch it up! But, if you are still quite feminine and "pink" then maybe I can be of some assistance.

As some of you know, the most common sizes in shoes run from about a 6 1/2 to a 9. After that, Sasquatch...you're out of luck. But, lucky for you there are people who care enough to roll out that extra yardage of fabric to create a shoe, a fashionable shoe, to accommodate your feet.

Ever hear Wendy Williams, the infamous radio jockey turn tv talk show host, rant about Beverly Feldman? Well, being a rather stately woman of about 5'11, she is in tune with what she needs to make a fashion statement while maintaining a level of comfort at the same time. Personally, I believe that the signature multi-prints are a bit much for me, but there is enough of a selection to please all. Below, we have Beth from the Spring/Summer collection. This pump can easily be transitioned from a day shoe to a night vamp and doesn't overpower. It's feminine, and sexy, yet sophisticated.

Next, is a shoe collection that I haven't always been too keen on, but I must say the styling has definitely progressed. The Samanta shoe company is Black-Owned and provides sophisticated footwear for women sizes 5-13. Size 13???? How amazing is that???

My personal fave from the SamantaShoes.com site are the Zon White snakeskin print sandal. Even the most monsterous foot will appear delicate in this sexy double buckle strappy sandal. Equipped with a price tag of $200.00, I think these are a bargain in a market where a specialty size shoe is damn near impossible to find.

Style and Comfort in a perfect world may not be so out of ordinary as we may have once thought. Finally, designers are realizing that real women exist, even if they are living on the more manly side of life!

...so show him some love! We tend to forget or neglect the fact that men harbor the same love for shoes as most women. And no, I'm not talking about the plethora of trannies who call up Wendy Williams asking her where she purchases her size 11 stilettos!!! I'm talking about your Dad, your Brother, Uncle or your special hunka, hunka burning love.

As with women, men have their own style, and the more groomed they are, the sexier. I'd love to see a gentleman in a skinny European cut suit with a pair of these Sweeeeet Paul Smith "Taylor's" gracing his feet. The craftsmanship leaves nothing to be desired. Every detail down to the sole has been taken into consideration. This designer takes the saying, "from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet" quite seriously.

From one extreme to the other...this is my life...I also have a penchant for the rubber soled man. Sneakers are so commonplace in today's man's wardrobe that you can't help to think that the traditional shoe is near extinction in menswear. Not being much of a sneaker connisseur I just went with the wow factor along with a little help from my "Papa"on these Limited Edition Reeboks! Check 'em out!

One word... POR QUE?!?!

Ok it's 2 words in Spanish, but it still screams for an answer. Yuck boots are the absolute worst creations EVER! I'd seriously consider wearing those orthopedic Croc things before desecrating my feet by donning boots that literally make your feet look like bread loaves...YUCK!

My little tirade isn't totally dedicated to the YUCK's, but to those wearing any form of a boot in the SUMMER!! All winter long we cannot wait for the first sign of Spring to pull out those old favorite sandals or an excuse to buy new ones, so why are we neglecting the cries of our toes to be free? Jesus-Cristo...let them loose! Spring/Summer is seriously only 10 days long. Let's revel and bask in the freedom of sandals.

I get the whole, I'm f-ing cool and way hipster with it, but do realize that when you roll up to your fav boy-toys flat and peel off those "funky" boots, that's exactly what he'll smell too...FUNK! Eww!

Don't worry honey, winter is coming back sooner than you think, and the shoe selection is looking absolutely delish. But in the meantime, enjoy the hot summer while you can! Take your toes out sunning.

Shake it girl, but please don't break it. Pocohantas ain't got a damn thing on you. Although the gladiator sandal is alive and well this season, there are other trends that seem to never really disappear. The "Fringe".

Now let's limit the fringe-ation. Do not get crazy with a fringe shirt, skirt, jacket or pants. God forbid, unless of course your a damn cowboy! A fringe headband...cool. A fringe handbag...cooler. A fringe trimmed shoe...coolest!!

Finally, I have arrived…

Who am I? What do I do? Well, since birth I have been a serious Fashionista. Knowing my mom, I probably slid through the birth canal in Christian Dior crocheted booties!!!! And I have always fawned over the most phenomenal fashions...trendsetting, classic and vintage. But now I have concentrated my focus on my 1 true love...SHOES!

By profession, I am a luster of footwear, a collector of foot candy, a shoe connoisseur, if you will- I am a SHOE WHORE!!!!! There is absolutely no better way of describing my insane fascination and passion for shoes. Pointy, round, stilettos, kitten heels, flats, pumps, boots, sandals, bows, bells, whistles- I’ll take them! What’s not to love?

There is a shoe for every mood. A shoe for every personality. A shoe for every occasion. A shoe for every foot! Let us embark on this journey together. Will you join me?

Are you a fellow sole-hugger? Who cares about those damn trees…hug the soles that hug your feet. Do you adore the artwork that graces your feet? Lose sleep over what color to buy in those new hot sandals and then return to store the next day and purchase all 3 available colors?????? Well… maybe that last one is just me. Yikes!
